The band, winners of the 2016 Runas Contest, performs both original compositions and traditional tunes, enriched with influences from Atlantic folk and new sonic textures. With a career spanning over twenty years, Böj continues to explore traditional music from a fresh, contemporary, and borderless perspective. In their latest work, Hora Zulú, released this past May, they offer a sonic journey that connects Galicia with Northern Europe and African rhythms, always keeping the Atlantic as their central thread.
The group—formed by Ricardo Mouriño, Fausto Escrigas, Rubén Gómez, Pablo Vergara, and Cibrán Seixo, with Alfonso Esky as sound technician—incorporates elements from genres such as reggae, jazz, and pop-rock, giving their music a rich, versatile identity full of character.
