Xosé Liz (Vigo, 1972) is today one of the leading masters of plucked string instruments on the Iberian Peninsula. A multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, arranger, and teacher, he is internationally recognized on the folk and Celtic music circuit.
After being part of bands such as Riobó, Lizgairo, Entretrastes, and Beladona, and collaborating with artists like Rodrigo Romaní, Uxía, and Pancho Álvarez, he decided to launch his solo career with a new musical project: Indala. The electric bouzouki takes center stage as the lead instrument, carrying a carefully crafted repertoire to some of the finest stages.
As a soloist, Xosé Liz recorded El cantar de los flautares / O Cantar dos Frautares, showcasing his mastery of wooden flutes through traditional melodies from Galicia, Portugal, Scotland, Brittany, and Ireland. He has contributed to more than 40 albums, working with renowned folk and Celtic music artists such as Susana Seivane, Rodrigo Romaní, Cristina Pato, Sondeseu, and Riobó—a group with which he took part in the Runas Contest in 2009 and the Ortigueira Festival in 2013.
